MTV Video Music Awards: Nominees Tweet Their Excitement

Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Nicki Minaj celebrated noms, asked their fans to vote.

The music community took to Twitter to celebrate their MTV Video Music Award nominations that were announced on Wednesday.

Katy Perry gushed on Twitter about her nine nominations, including a nod for Video of the Year for “Firework.”

“OMG! I just got word that I'm nominated for 9 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS!!!” she wrote. “I'm kinda speechless/nervous/turned on! NOW it's up to YOU to VOTE!”

“I can't sleep...I'm so excited... It feels like every birthday/christmas/first kiss I ever had. Thanks so much for believing in me. I owe u.”

Perry also expressed her dissapointment that some artists weren’t nominated, including Rihanna, and Taylor Swift.

“I do miss my RiRi, (s&m) Swifty, (back to dec) Kesha (blow) & Robyn (every vid!) Jessie J, (pricetag) in the/any categories,” she wrote.

Bruno Mars, who will compete against Perry in the Video of the Year category with “Grenade,” also tweeted.

“VMAs!!” exclaimed Bruno Mars. “4 Nominations!?!?!?! THANK YOU @MTV,” he wrote.

Nicki Minaj, nominated for Best Hip Hop video for "Super Bass," also took to Twitter to celebrate.
“Sweet! 3 VMA nominations! Thanx 4 the support barbz!!!” she wrote.

The Voice judge Cee Lo Green, who is nominated for Best Male Video, wrote “Yo I just got nominated for a VMA!!!! Cool.”

Nominated for Best New Artist, Kreayshawn asked her fans to vote for her. “I can only imagine how tough the new artist vote is! We all killin the game! But I'm the only female,” she wrote.

Kanye West, whose infamous stage-crashing at the 2009 VMAs means that people are looking for a reaction from him, received seven nominations. Instead of promoting himself on Twitter, however, he retweeted a tweet asking people to vote for Tyler, The Creator, whose video for “Yonkers” is up for Video of the Year.
