mtvU buying professor ratings site

Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks unit said Wednesday that its 24-hour college network, mtvU, has agreed to acquire for an undisclosed amount. The free Web site boasts more than 6.6 million user-generated ratings of more than 900,000 college professors.

"This deal marks another step forward in our overall digital strategy and brings a large, active and engaged community of college students to our growing online portfolio," MTVN chairman and CEO Judy McGrath said. The deal is expected to close during the current first quarter.
