Murdoch to launch digital news title

News Corp. expected to invest $30 million-$40 million

News Corp. has further developed its plans for a digital news product it has been mulling for a while. The conglomerate is planning the launch of a national news title that would be distributed via tablets, such as the iPad, and mobile phones.

The offering, first reported by the LA Times, would be subscription-based and use a its own news team plus content from the conglomerate's New York Post and Dow Jones.

New York Post executive editor Jesse Angelo will oversee the news title. News Corp. is expected to invest $30 million-$40 million.

News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch and president, COO and deputy chairman Chase Carey have in recent appearances lauded the iPad as a game changer for the news business.
