‘PEOPLE’ PLEASER: Kelly Clarkson scores her fourth consecutive No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart with her latest single, “People Like Us.” The track is Clarkson’s ninth entry on this tally. None of her first five club play hits reached No. 1; in fact, only two of them registered in the top 10. “Walk Away” peaked at No. 5 in 2006 and “My Life Would Suck Without You” reached No. 9 in 2009.
After “My Life,” Clarkson didn’t return to the Club Play chart until 2012, when “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” debuted at No. 40 in January. By March, that single had become her first No. 1 hit on this list.
She hasn’t missed the top spot since. “Dark Side” hit No. 1 in August 2012, followed by “Catch My Breath” in February.
“People Like Us” is Clarkson’s 84th Billboard No. 1, a run that began in October 2002 with “A Moment Like This.” This latest chart-topper is the 391st for the American Idol franchise.

Hot Dance Club Play is the first chart to see “People Like Us” go all the way. The song is also moving up other charts, including Adult Contemporary (26-23), Mainstream Top 40 (30-28), Adult Top 40 (9-8) and the Hot 100 (77-73).
TOP 10 ‘AGAIN’: “See You Again,” the fourth single from Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away, breaks into the top 10 on Hot Country Songs, with a healthy jump of 14-9. It shouldn’t be a surprise that the season four winner has reached the top 10 with her latest hit, since every one of her singles promoted to country radio has achieved this feat.
That is Underwood’s complete run of country singles, dating back to “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Her first 16 singles all made the top two. The first one to miss was her previous release, “Two Black Cadillacs,” which peaked at No. 4 after the chart was reconfigured.
We’ll have to wait and see if “See You Again” becomes Underwood’s 13th No. 1 on this chart or her 17th top two hit. We already know it’s her 18th top 10 on Hot Country Songs.

On Country Airplay, “See You Again” rises 13-11 and on the fairly new Country Streaming Songs chart, the song leaps 11-7 in its second week. On the Hot 100, “See You Again” is up 62-51.
‘GONE’ FOR GOOD: Phillip Phillips’ “Gone, Gone, Gone” continues to perform well and is still moving up on multiple charts. On Adult Contemporary, where “Home” is still in the top 10 (down 7-9 this week), “Gone” jumps 17-15 and makes the greatest airplay gain of any song on the chart. Elsewhere, “Gone” is up 5-4 on Adult Contemporary, 50-43 on the Hot 100 and 44-39 on Hot Digital Songs. The single holds at No. 4 on Rock Digital Songs and No. 5 on Hot Rock Songs.
BITS AND PIECES: Mandisa’s new single, “Overcomer” has a great third week on the Christian Songs chart. The title track from her forthcoming album rockets 38-24 and makes the greatest airplay gain of any song on the chart… Fantasia’s second single from Side Effects of You, “Without Me” featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott, debuts at No. 31 on the Adult R&B chart, where her previous release, “Lose to Win,” holds at No. 4. “Without Me” also debuts on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 list, at No. 16… Scotty McCreery’s “See You Tonight” lifts 50-49 on Hot Country Songs and 38-37 on Country Airplay… Written by Jordin Sparks, “The Way” by Ariana Grande featuring Mac Miller spends another week in the top 10 of the Hot 100, holding at No. 9.
