FRAMED: After winning season nine of American Idol, Lee DeWyze released Live It Up, his post-show debut, on RCA. That album peaked at No. 19 on The Billboard 200 but there was no follow-up and in October 2011, DeWyze was dropped from the label. Some 15 months later, the long-standing Vanguard label announced the signing of DeWyze to the imprint. The Idol winner’s first release on his new label home debuts on the Billboard charts this week. Frames bows at No. 116 on The Billboard 200, No. 111 on Top Current Albums and No. 38 on Top Rock Albums.
That means six American Idols are listed on this week’s tallies. DeWyze is joined on the Billboard charts by Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips. Clarkson has three singles in play on a number of charts: “Catch My Breath,” “People Like Us” and “Tie It Up.” Fantasia’s “Without Me,” featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott, holds at No. 7 on Adult R&B. On that same chart, “Love and Sex” by R&B crooner Joe debuts at No. 27. Fantasia is a featured artist on this track.

Underwood’s “See You Again” moves up from 3-2 on Country Airplay, so it is still a contender for No. 1 on this chart, as it is on Country Airplay Detections, where it is No. 2 for the second week in a row. McCreery’s *See You Tonight” re-enters Hot Country Songs at No. 49.
And Phillips? Well, he makes some chart history this week. See below.
‘GONE’ ALL THE WAY: Phillip Phillips’ “Gone, Gone, Gone” has been moving steadily up the Adult Contemporary chart and this week the song has gone as far as it can go. With a move of 2-1, “Gone” becomes the season 11 champ’s second song to top this list. “Home” reigned on AC for 12 weeks.
This is Phillips’ 16th Billboard No. 1. He is now tied for sixth place among Idols with the most chart-toppers. Here are the top six:

By topping the AC chart again, Phillips gives the Idol franchise its 397th No. 1.

‘OVER’ RULES: Speaking of No. 1s, Mandisa’s “Overcomer” reigns on the Christian Digital Songs and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs for the seventh week. The season five finalist could add to her total of chart-toppers as early as next week, when her Overcomer album debuts on Top Christian Albums.
The “Overcomer” single is up 7-6 on Christian Adult Contemporary, while holding at No. 5 on Christian Songs.
THE COLTON DIXON LINE: On the heels of three Dove Awards nominations, Colton Dixon’s A Messenger ascends 28-26 on Top Christian Albums, while his single “Never Gone” re-enters Christian Digital Songs at No. 48. “Never Gone” is a former No. 1 on this chart.
