It seems there’s something to all those reports about Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey’s contentious relationship after all.
The two American Idol judges were caught on video Tuesday engaged in a heated exchange during auditions for the Fox singing competition in Charlotte, N.C.

TMZ posted the video, which shows a furious Minaj shouting: “I told them I’m not f—in’ putting up with her f—in’ highness over there.” (Watch the clip below.)
Minaj, who appears to be directing her anger toward Carey, adds: “I’m not gonna sit here every f—ing minute to have you come down and harass me every minute everyday.” (Quotes are via TMZ as the audio quality is poor.)
She also lobs accusations of having been called a “gangster” and being “patronize[d].”
Fellow judge Keith Urban is sitting between the two, with Randy Jackson standing near his usual seat on the end, appearing to try to calm Minaj down.

Carey also responds, but the audio quality makes it hard to discern what she’s saying.
Last month, host Ryan Seacrest admitted there had been sparks between Minaj and Carey but downplayed reports of an all-out feud.
“Nicki and Mariah, two very different, strong, powerful successful women on the panel — there are not too many dull moments between the two of them,” he told NBC’s Today on Sept. 18. “But at the end of the day, we all hug and laugh and go home and get ready for another day.”
He added: “They get along fine, but they’re strong and candid in their opinion.”

Auditions kicked off Sept. 16 in New York. In addition to Charlotte, audition cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, La., and Oklahoma City.
Idol returns in January.
