American Idol champion Phillip Phillips will not be going under the knife for kidney surgery on Tuesday, despite reports to the contrary.
Phillips’ girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell, refuted an earlier TMZ report on Twitter Monday with an update on the 21-year-old Leesburg, Ga., singer’s medical condition.
“Phillip’s surgery is not tomorrow,” tweeted Blackwell on the microblogging site. “He will be fine when it is scheduled and is excited for tour. Thanks for your concern and respect.”

In the meantime, Phillips has postponed his post-Idol promotional stops, including an appearance at the American Idol Experience attraction at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Phillips was also slated for a full week of television interviews and performances on such programs as Live! With Kelly and the Today show.
The singer has undergone eight surgeries for a painful buildup of kidney stones since season 11 began in January and wrapped up with his victory last week. When Phillips does go for the final procedure, his estimated recovery time may last up to six weeks.
The Idols Live tour begins July 6 in Detroit.
