Canadian pop-rockers Barenaked Ladies just released a compilation of rarities that includes a live cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Shake Your Rump.” It arrived in stores four days after the death of Adam Yauch, the Beasties’ beloved MCA.

The Barenaked Ladies performed the Paul’s Boutique classic in October 1994 at California’s Santa Maria Hilton, giving it a scrappy and surprisingly spot-on spin.
Stop Us If You’ve Heard This One Before, as they’ve titled the new album, also features B-sides, remixes and previously unreleased demos from the Barenaked Ladies 1994 to 2003 library.

The May release on Rhino comes ahead of package tour “Last Summer on Earth” which kicks off on July 6 and includes fellow 90s hitmakers Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Cracker (see dates at Live Nation). Also on the schedule: BNL frontman Ed Robertson will also co-host ABC’s Live! with Kelly on May 29 and the band, now a four-piece, recently announced that they’re composing a score for Animal House: The Musical, a theatrical production based on the 1978 movie.
