It was only a matter of time, and it only took seven-plus hours.
Beyonce’s photo announcement of her second pregnancy — with twins this time — has become the most liked Instagram pic of all time.
With more than 8 million likes (and counting), Beyonce surpasses the previous record holder: Selena Gomez, who has scored a staggering 6.305 million likes so far for her post of a Coca-Cola ad featuring her drinking from a bottle with her song lyrics on it. Gomez first claimed the record in July 2016, capturing the benchmark from her onetime romantic partner Justin Bieber.
Beyonce’s Instagram post quickly took over the internet on Wednesday afternoon, with fans in elated shock over the surprise revelation.
On Thursday morning, the Formation singer shared a stunning series of photos on her website that gives an expanded and closer look at her growing belly.
“Mother is a cocoon where cells spark, limbs form, mother swells and stretches to protect her child,” reads a piece of poetry between a shot of Beyonce floating in water in a yellow wrap covering everything but her midsection. “Mother has one foot in this world and one foot in the next, mother, black venus” concludes with the phrase “I have three hearts” appearing as the cursor floats over the words.
The singer’s official site now also features a photo montage of her growing belly during her first pregnancy with her and husband Jay-Z’s now 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. In other shots, Blue Ivy hands her mother a flower and is poised to kiss Beyonce’s stomach.
Feeling nostalgic, the star also shared a photo of her grandmother holding her own mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, as a baby and a shot of Lawson pregnant with Beyonce in 1981. “I look at photographs of my mother when she was pregnant with me, does she feel how I feel now?” reads the caption.
