Beyonce is painting the town red lately.
The pregnant pop music queen stepped out Saturday evening in a fire-engine red, long-sleeved gown with a plunging v-neck from L.A.-based brand Stello and a bedazzled floral headpiece. Bey was accompanied by husband Jay Z, who wore a light blue Gucci suit.
The couple attended the inaugural Wearable Art Gala, hosted by mom Tina Knowles Lawson and her husband, Richard Lawson, at the California African American Museum. The event was held in benefit of WACO Theater Center (Where Art Can Occur), a nonprofit art and performance art center in L.A.
“I am super proud of my beautiful mother for creating such an awesome event. Close to $1 million was raised for The WACO Theater Center to benefit young people through their mentorship programs and the arts,” Bey wrote on Instagram. “Mom, you inspire us all to be generous, selfless, positive, to have empathy, to love and to praise creativity in the world. It brought tears to my eyes to be a witness to what you and Richard have created together. WACO is a safe place truly Where Art Can Occur. I love you.”
Meanwhile, Solange made a statement in a merlot-hued, pleated mini-dress by Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake, and Kelly Rowland stole the show in a pastel purple gown with endless layers of ruffled tulle designed by Shaima Al Mansoori for Bahrain label Monsoori, with Jon Buscemi sneakers.
Beyonce proteges and teen-sister duo Chloe and Halle also attended in coordinating metallic silver and gold dresses, paired with Emm Kuo clutches.
Tina Knowles looked like a green goddess in a gown made from all banana leaves — “not collared greens,” she captioned on Instagram — that she designed with Tim White. Wearable art, indeed.
