Rachel Roy Says She Isn’t “Becky With the Good Hair”

Is Rachel Roy Becky or not? That was the question asked on the Internet these past couple of days. According to Roy, she’s not “Becky with the good hair” — the much-talked-about lyrics from Beyonce’s “Sorry” single on her latest album, Lemonade.

Following rumors that Roy was the woman behind the Jay Z cheating scandal, the designer has finally issued a statement.

“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors,” Roy said in a statement to People.

She continued to express that she, along with her two daughters, Ava Dash and Tallulah Ruth Dash, have been targeted by online bullies, and that, “bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable.”

The drama began shortly after Roy posted a caption that seemed to reference Bey’s lyrics.

“Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting for selfies, or self-truths, always…live in the light,” she wrote in the now-deleted post. Roy temporarily made her account private before switching it back to the public setting Monday.

On Sunday morning, Roy also addressed the issues with cyberbullies in a tweet that read, “I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind.”

Meanwhile, attention seems to have shifted over to Rita Ora — many are now speculating she may be the real “Becky with the good hair,” following a now-deleted Snapchat of her posing in a lemon-embellished bikini.
