OneRepublic rocked its hit “Counting Stars” — possibly for the last time — at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Clad in black leather and waving a tambourine, frontman Ryan Tedder — who revealed to Billboard backstage before the awards that the song will soon be at least temporally retired from their set lists — led the group through a heartfelt performance of the song that had audience members like Jordin Sparks singing along from their seats.

The past year has been a big one for the Colorado group. OneRepublic saw the song “Counting Stars” climb to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Radio Songs chart, notched its highest-charting Billboard 200 album with Native and completed a huge tour. Tedder also recently graced the cover of Billboard Magazine.
