Ed Sheeran took the stage at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday night to perform his hit “Bloodstream.”
On a darkly lit stage, Sheeran opened his set alone, strumming his guitar. A hologramlike figure of Sheeran was displayed on the stage’s backdrop and illuminated the singer’s every move as he commanded the stage. During the climax of the song, Sheeran feverishly slammed the chords on his guitar and received a loud round of applause from the audience. Close friend Taylor Swift could be seen singing along to the track.
Sheeran was nominated in five categories: top male artist, top Billboard 200 artist, top digital songs artist, top radio songs artist and top Billboard 200 album.
The Billboard Music Awards were co-hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen and featured performances by artists including Wiz Khalifa, Fall Out Boy, Mariah Carey and Kanye West.
