LAS VEGAS — One of the standout moments of Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards had to be Cee Lo Green’s flying piano during a medley of his hits.

The bedazzled baby grand was lifted from the stage and flown more than 12 feet in the air, pivoting into a 360-degree turn that had the soul singer singing upside down. “A lot of framing went into that piano and he’s fully strapped in,” a crew member explained to a gawkers gathered around a backstage monitor.
Later, Louis J. Horvitz, director of the show, said David Copperfield helped come up with the piano trick. He added that “it was very dangerous,” and that the illusion was practiced offsite.
