Bruce Springsteen was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in New Jersey last year, authorities said Wednesday.
The 71-year-old iconic rocker was arrested Nov. 14 in Gateway National Recreation Area. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, National Park Service spokeswoman Brenda Ling told The Hollywood Reporter. She also noted that Springsteen was “cooperative throughout the process.”
TMZ was first to report the November arrest of the New Jersey native. News of the arrest surfaced just days after Springsteen was featured in a Super Bowl commercial for Jeep.
By 1 p.m., the Super Bowl commercial had been pulled off Jeep’s YouTube page and from its official Twitter page. The message on YouTube reads: “Video unavailable. This video is private.” Springsteen still has the commercial posted on his Twitter account.
In a statement to THR around 4 p.m., a Jeep spokesperson said, “It would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate. But it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established. Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”
A rep for Springsteen did not respond to a request for comment.
