BTS is rescheduling the upcoming North America dates for its world tour amid the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.
The highly anticipated Map of the Soul tour had been set to kick off April 25 and 26 in Santa Clara, California, followed by three days at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in early May and winding through Dallas, Orlando, Atlanta, New Jersey, Washington and Toronto before ending June 5 and 6 at Soldier Field in Chicago. But with the virus continuing to spread throughout the U.S., the band’s label, Big Hit Entertainment, has decided to postpone those tour stops.
All tickets will be honored for the new dates, Big Hit said.
For now, the rest of the world tour — BTS is set to spend July touring Europe before a series of Japanese dome concerts in late summer — remains on the schedule. The group had already made the decision to cancel its four mid-April kickoff dates in its native Korea back in February, when the then-epidemic was severely impacting Asia. Those tickets were automatically refunded, although many members of BTS’ famed fan base — known as ARMY — opted to donate their refunds to Korea’s coronavirus relief efforts. According to the South China Morning Post, as of March 18, more than 11,000 fans had collectively contributed half a billion won (more than $410,000) to assist in combating the virus.
