We Are Family Foundation is honored to announce that Rob Light, partner, managing director and head of music at CAA, has joined Nile Rodgers’ nonprofit’s board of directors. CAA represents many of the world’s top professionals working in film, television, music, theater, video games, sports and digital content worldwide.
“Rob has long been at the forefront of the music business and I’ve known him since the eighties. He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever worked with and truly has a giving spirit,” explains Rodgers, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2017 inductee who co-founded Chic and has collaborated with artists including David Bowie, Duran Duran and Madonna.

Light “sits on a number of charity boards — Musicares, Southern Ground Foundation, Tiger Woods Foundation and City of Hope Cancer Research Hospital,” Rodgers says. “That’s a testament to the size of his altruistic heart. I’m honored he’s chosen to join our board and help us chart our way into the future.”
Light says he has “long believed in the power of music to bring people together for the greater good,” writing in a statement “the terrific work of the We Are Family Foundation is a shining example of this and I am proud to work alongside Nile, Nancy, and the entire organization to help amplify their efforts.”
Light joins a board of directors that includes co-founder and president Nancy Hunt, she++ co-founder Ayna Agarwal, attorney Mark Barondess, film producer Kim Brizzolara, Red Crown Productions co-founder Daniel Crown, The Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop executive director Michael Levine, Center Pond Management co-founder Steve Musumeci, entertainment executive Michael Ostin, former U.S. special representative to Muslim communities Farah Pandith, documentary filmmaker and conservationist Susan Rockefeller, senior vp and chief marketing officer for AmeriCares Jed Selkowitz, singer-songwriter and producer Kathy Sledge, U.S. Fund for UNICEF president and CEO Caryl Stern and Sheel Tyle, founder and CEO for Amplo.
The We Are Family Foundation is dedicated to “the visions of a global family by creating programs that promote cultural diversity while nurturing and mentoring the vision, talents and ideas of young people who are positively changing the world,” according to a release.
