TORONTO — The Junos are going a little bit country.
Canada’s music awards Tuesday gave a nod to the finger pickers as it said country stars Brett Kissel, Dean Brody and Gord Bamford will perform at the 2014 Juno Awards on March 30.
They join a performance lineup in Winnipeg that includes the previously announced Robin Thicke, Serena Ryder, The Sheepdogs and Tegan and Sara.
Kissel will contend at the Junos for breakthrough artist of the year, while also going head-to-head with Brody and Bamford for country album of the year.
The Junos competition is led by Canadian indie rock heroes Arcade Fire with six nominations, crooner Michael Bublé and Serena Ryder each with five noms, while Céline Dion, Drake, Hedley and Tegan and Sara earned another four nominations each.
Arcade Fire in 2012 won four Junos, including best album and best group, and is expected to dominate the Canadian music awards again this year.
The Junos, organized by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, will air live on the CTV network.
