Chris Brown lost his cool following an interview Tuesday on ABC’s Good Morning America in which he was grilled on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown — who is serving five years of probation since being convicted of felony assault against the singer in 2009 — was asked about the incident by Robin Roberts. He first dismissed her questions by telling her he wanted to focus the conversation on his new album, F.A.M.E. “It’s not really a big deal to me now, as far as that situation,” he told Roberts. “I think I’m past that in my life. Today’s the album day, so that’s what I’m focused on.”
Then when she pried again, he said, “”This album is what I want people to hear and people to really get into, so definitely this ALBUM is what I want them to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago.”
After the interview ended, Brown stormed into his dressing room, started screaming and tore apart the room, both TMZ and the New York Post report.
He took a chair and smashed a window; shards of glass fell onto 43rd Street and Broadway, reports the Post.
A person familiar with the show also tells the Associated Press Brown trashed his dressing room and broke a window with a chair. The person was not authorized to discuss the matter and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Security was called, but before they arrived, the singer had ripped off his shirt and left the building, blowing off another performance he was supposed to do for the show’s website.
Around that time, he Tweeted: “I’m so over people bringing this past s–t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for there bulls–t.” The message has since been removed. He later added two messages: “Thank you to everyone who supports my music!!! Key Word (music) !!! Love y’all” … “All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I’m so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!”
After the show, Roberts Tweeted: “Sure has been an interesting AM @GMA. Still sorting thru everything myself. Just my 2nd day on twitter, wonder what tomorrow will bring?”
GMA viewers were taken aback by the incident.
“Where is Chris Brown’s mother? Evidently his father didn’t give him any man skills!!” one asked.
Added another, “Chris Brown has to be charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct .Broken glass hit the street on Broadway people could have gotten hurt . He destroyed property .”
A third person chimed in: “AND, what kind of redemption does Chris Brown deserve, if his behavior after the interview was yet another example of his violent nature?”
Next week, Brown is set to perform on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
