After seeing Coachella regulars Alessandra Ambrosio, Katy Perry and DJ Mia Moretti hit up the fest for several years now, it’s easy to forget that not every famous person has made the trek to the polo fields before. Among one of those first-timers at this year’s desert spectacle: Once Upon a Time actress Jennifer Morrison, who caught one of her favorite bands play on day one of the fest.

“I really loved Interpol — I’ve loved their music, but I’ve never seen them live, so that was awesome. That was kind of the highlight of last night,” said Morrison at the CFDA’s poolside brunch, hosted by PopSugar and ShopStyle, at The Viceroy on Saturday, when pro synchronized swimmers the Aqualillies performed in front of a crowd that included Jamie Chung and designers Mara Hoffman and Cynthia Vincent. “It’s been great — a nice excuse to hear great music and hang out with friends,” the actress told Pret-a-Reporter of her first Coachella experience.
It helped that Morrison’s friends maintained a laid-back schedule, too. “Our decision is a group of friends that are just kind of like, ‘we’ll float along and see what happens,’ ” she added, mentioning that the one artist she’s really looking forward to seeing was Florence + The Machine. “I don’t want to feel like I’m late to anything!”
Late or not, at least Morrison’s Coachella style has been on point. Wearing a flowy maxi dress by Etro, the 36-year-old paired her look with a beige Steven Alan wide-brimmed hat, Madewell shoes and a fringed B-Low the Belt bag, which she joked was her “Mary Poppins bag.”
“I got Purell, sunblock, Chapstick, Tylenol, cold and flu medicine, a change of contacts,” listed the Chicago-born actress of all the belongings in her bag. “Everyone keeps turning to me to ask if I’ve got this or this, and I’m like, ‘I have all of it.’ ” Lesson learned: One can never be too prepared at Coachella.
