Coldplay’s reign as one of the biggest bands on the planet may be coming to an end soon, as the group’s seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, is expected to be its last when it comes out Dec. 4. But before that happens, the Chris Martin-led group took to the 2015 American Music Awards stage to perform the first single off the new album, “Adventure of a Lifetime.”
Introduced by Fall Out Boy, the band hit the stage in front of a trippy kaleidoscope of a backdrop, with Martin as animated a frontman as he’s seemed in years. He seemed to be having a particularly great time, especially after being joined by four dancers in gorilla costumes and a steady stream of confetti and gigantic balloons. It was … an experience, to be sure: Think the Flaming Lips meet the Gorillaz, in many different ways.
