Coldplay will storm the 2016 Super Bowl stage as the annual NFL game’s halftime-show performer, a source confirmed to Billboard. The news first was reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
The British rock group — consisting of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion — is set to make its halftime-show debut at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 7. The Super Bowl will make a notable tour stop on the band’s forthcoming trek across the globe. Coldplay announced the first string of dates in Europe and Latin America earlier this month.
Expect performances of songs like “Adventure of a Lifetime” and maybe even a Beyonce duet for “Hymn for the Weekend,” from the band’s upcoming album, A Head Full of Dreams, due Dec. 4. Per the Journal, the 11-track offering won’t be made immediately available on Spotify upon its release, a move that chart-topper Adele recently pulled with her third studio effort, 25.
Coldplay joins the likes of its collaborator Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars, all of whom have headlined previous half-time shows.
