In a new development in the case of Brian Douglas White, who allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend’s mother and new boyfriend before taking his own life, the teen is revealed to have posted lyrics from the popular Gotye song “Somebody That I Used to Know” on his Facebook page.
According to the Detroit news, via Fox News, the 19-year-old’s social media presence revealed an obsession with the 2000 crime drama American Psycho, starring Christian Bale as a charming serial killer, as well as lyrics to the Gotye track and Blue October‘s “Hate Me.”
“You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness,” White wrote, referencing Gotye’s lyrics. “What a polite murderer,” he also posted.
In another posting from March 29, White reportedly wrote: “And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave, kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made,” a lyric from Blue October’s 2006 single.
Police say that White entered the home of his ex-girlfriend, an unidentified 17-year-old, early on Wednesday morning and killed the girl’s new boyfriend and her mother with an axe while they slept. The girl was injured, but managed to escape and call 911. White killed himself following the attacks.
Since then, White’s Facebook page has been taken down.
