Nail art isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, it seems, but on Sunday night, Lady Gaga found a fresh and fun way to wear the tried-and-true trend.

Stepping outbest traditional pop vocal album), Gaga sported a plunging floor-length Brandon Maxwell gown with long, painted nails featuring a hidden hint of shine.
“Today she was a platinum goddess,” said nail artist Michelle Saunders, who created a subtle but statement-making manicure as glamorous as Gaga herself.
“With her nails on the long side, we wanted to soften that look and elongate the hand,” she explained. Using All Eyes on Nude from Essie’s Cashmere’s Matte collection, Saunders used a shade that wouldn’t compete with the shine of her dress. But to give the look what she describes as a “little oomph,” Saunders — who has worked with the pop icon since 2008 — added cuticle oil to the last stroke to give Gaga’s nails a satin finish.

But the best part of the look? The sparkly coat of Essie’s Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Lo shade painted underneath the nails to add extra shine. “When she waves her hands, there will be a little spark of that platinum,” says Saunders.
