As Adele took the stage for the second time at the 2017 Grammys to pay tribute to George Michael, the star stopped her performance just moments in due to “technical difficulties” and dropped an F-bomb in the process.
The Grammy winner apologized for the halt in her performance and her use of profanity, saying, “I’m sorry for swearing, and I’m sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again? I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him.”
According to an eyewitness in the crowd, Adele said, “It’s f—ed up, I can’t do it like that.” She continued to apologize as the crowd cheered and then started the song over as a slideshow of photos of Michael played behind her.
The British songstress’ rendition of Michael’s “Fastlove,” off of his 1996 album Older, went on to receive a standing ovation as she began to tear up. Hollywood took to Twitter to share their reactions and show their support for the singer.
