Fans of Bruce Springsteen had been waiting eagerly for months to see their rock and roll hero in concert at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY. But the arrival of Hurricane Sandy forced a cancellation of the show, which has been rescheduled for the following night, according to a message on The Boss’ official website.
“Due to the current weather complications in the tri-state area, the Tuesday, October 30 show at Rochester, NY’s Blue Cross Arena is being postponed to Wednesday, October 31. Stay safe, and see you on Wednesday!” the message reads.

The announcement is something of a good-news, bad-news scenario for many ticketholders — particularly parents of young children who have been waiting an entire year to go trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
The general manager of Blue Cross Arena, Jeff Calkins, acknowledges the potential conflict, telling the local ABC affiliate, “If you want to go trick-or-treating early and still make the show, it starts at 7:30 but Bruce Springsteen, he’ll go on until 11:00 so you can maybe even do both.”
That’s likely a laughable proposition to die-hard Springsteen fans, though it may be preferable to not seeing the show at all — and full refunds are available. ABC reports that many tickets for the sold-out show are starting to pop back up on Ticketmaster and Craigslist.

The singer has been making no secret of his support for President Barack Obama at recent appearances. He performed for 3,000 Obama supporters at a rally in Ohio also attended by Bill Clinton, and performed a jokey campaign song about the incumbent during a free Charlottesville performance.
Other shows affected by Hurricane Sandy include a Deftones performance in New York, a Swans show at the Music Hall of Wiliamsburg, and three shows by The xx in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore, all of which were postponed ahead of the storm. The band’s label, Young Turks, confirms the shows will be rescheduled and all tickets remain valid.
A Cat Power show at Philadelphia’s The Electric Factory was also cancelled because of the storm.
