A Bronx Tale is breaking out of the Big Apple.
Ghostlight Records’ cast recording of the new Broadway musical is set to debut digitally on March 24. The CD will be available at the Longacre Theatre beginning April 14 and in stores in May. It also will be available for streaming beginning June 23.
A new video offers a behind-the-scenes peek at the cast recording of the production, which looks back at Chazz Palminteri’s 1960s childhood on the streets of the New York neighborhood, recounting the conflicted sense of loyalty and love that saw him divided between his father and a local mob boss.
Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks co-directed the show, which features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater. “It’s a really catchy and emotional score, and I’m very proud of it,” Menken tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m thrilled about it coming out. It’s a jam-packed season, with a lot of strong shows and a huge amount of variety.”
Tommy Mottola, the Dodgers, Tribeca Productions and Evamere Entertainment produced A Bronx Tale.
