Kid Rock endorsed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney with a performance of his song “Born Free” and now longtime Barack Obama supporter Jay-Z has put his endorsment on display via video.
In a new clip released by the Obama campaign called “The Power of Our Nation,” the rapper voices his support for the President by explaining, “When the president got in office initially, what he represented to a nation of kids was hope. The hope of people all across the country, who would look and see themselves and know the possibilities.” The video incorporates footage of Jay-Z’s recent “Made in America” concert, held in Philadelphia.

This past September, Jay-Z and his wife, singer Beyonce, hosted a fundraiser at the Barcalys Center’s new 40/40 club which raised $4 million to fund the President’s reelection campaign. Other musicians who’ve publicly supported the Obama campaign include Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, who dedicated their single “My Hero” to the President while playing at the Democratic National Convention, and the National, who recently played at an election rally in Iowa.
The Republican National Committee has been critical of the support the President has been receiving from these artists, stating that Obama has been “hobnobbing” with musicians instead of focusing on political matters.
