Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have remained relatively tight-lipped about their teen romance, but with Bieber’s newly released relationship-centric single heating up the airwaves, the 18-year-old is speaking out on what makes him a worthy “Boyfriend” during his latest media blitz.
“I’m loving an patient and kind and gentle,” he said during a visit to the Radio Disney studio on Wednesday. “It’s just about being honest with one another. You just have to be honest, that’s the first thing, because if you’re not honest then the relationship is just not a good relationship.”
“At the end of the day, your girl would appreciate you being honest more than lying to her and vice versa,” he added.
The appearance was taped for a special week-long edition of “Celebrity Take” with Radio Disney host Jake Whetter, set to air April 9-13 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
Bieber debuted his latest single — a Mike Posner-produced track — at midnight on Monday, March 26. The song immediately shot to the top of the iTunes chart, featuring the lyrics: “If I was your boyfriend, I’d never let you go / I can take you places you ain’t never been before / Baby take a chance or you’ll never know / I got money in my hands that I’d really like to blow.”
