In a Monday night appearance on E!’s Chelsea Lately, the teen pop sensation — and now movie star — addressed the much-talked-about getup — which was, essentially, a giant egg in which the singer was encased and carried by four half-naked model-types.
He also said he finds her various stunts, including egg costume and her Video Music Awards meat dress, “weird.”
As for his surprising loss at Sunday’s Grammys in the best new artist category — which jazz artist Esperanza Spalding won — Bieber said, “Yeah. I’m not going to lie. People were expecting me to say something else, but I’m disappointed.”
Bieber was still gracious when it came to Spalding, saying, “I’m really excited for her. She worked hard.” Handler apparently found that latter comment funny, according to Examiner.com.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Lately became a hot topic on Twitter because of the Bieber interview, with many praising his sense of humor.
“@justinbieber you were soo funny on chelsealately! Happy Valentine’s day!” one fan tweeted.
Even self-proclaimed non-fans enjoyed Bieber’s appearance.
“He was … on ChelseaLatelytonight, and he was actually quite cute. I may be warming to the Biebs,” wrote one.
However, Bieber still has his naysayers.
“Justin Bieber just made two huge mistakes. I had no problem with him but he just came off as very disrespectful on ChelseaLately,” wrote one.
Added another: “im surprised to say this… but touché bieber, for the interview on chelsealately.”
Bieber is currently in theaters with the 3D biopic-concert hybrid Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which was narrowly beat out for the top spot at the box office over the weekend by the Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy Just Go With It.
