TORONTO – The 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards is looking to raise its decibel level by booking Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber, his protégé Carly Rae Jepsen and Nelly Furtado as performers.
Also enlisted to perform is punk/emo rock band Marianas Trench, which leads the field for the Canadian video awards with seven nominations.
Bieber, who hails from Stratford, Ontario, caused a frenzy at the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards when he accompanied his girlfriend and event host Selena Gomez.

“I’m so excited to be coming back home for this year’s MMVAs… It’s an honor to be nominated and performing. I can’t wait!,” Bieber, who will contend in two categories at the MMVAs, said Wednesday.
He joins a mainstage lineup that already has co-hosts LMFAO and chart-topper Katy Perry set to perform in Toronto.
To see the Canadian heartthrob in person, be on hand at the city’s MuchMusic headquarters on June 8 when wristbands for show will be handed out at 6 p.m.
MuchMusic has also turned to a number of domestic pop radio stations to help distribute coveted wristbands elsewhere countrywide.
The event will air Sunday, June 17 on Much in Canada and Fuse in the U.S. market.
