Justin Bieber’s House Raided After Neighbor’s House Is Egged

The L.A. County Sheriff’s department executed a search warrant on Justin Bieber‘s house on Tuesday morning in connection with allegations that he egged his neighbor’s home.

Bieber was not arrested but remains under investigation, Lt. David Thompson said at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

The pop star was previously named as a suspect in a misdemeanor vandalism and assault crime report for allegedly throwing eggs at his neighbor’s home in their gated Calabasas, Calif., community on Thursday night. Bieber allegedly egged the house while his neighbor and neighbor’s daughter were on the balcony videotaping the incident, L.A. County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Associated Press.

Detectives were looking for surveillance footage, but not necessarily eggs, Thompson said.  

“We were looking for things that would put him or anyone else at the scene,” he explained.

One man in Bieber’s entourage, later identified as rapper Lil Za, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, the AP reported. Lil Za, whose real name is Xavier Smith, wsa being held in lieu of $20,000 bail on Tuesday night. The drug, initially described as cocaine was being tested to verify its contents, but it was in plain sight in Bieber’s home, Thompson said, according to the AP.

Thompson said Bieber was cooperative during Tuesday morning’s search.

He added that they undertook this action to protect the quality of life of Bieber’s neighbors.

“The sheriff’s department hopes to enhance the quality of life of all our residents,” Thompson said. “I get that the eggs don’t seem that significant, but it does rise to the level of a felony. There is a victim in this case who had extensive damage done to their home, so that is a serious issue. … I, as well as the sheriff’s department, take that very seriously.”

The police pursued a felony search warrant in the case and sent roughly 12 detectives to his house, Thompson said.

Although Bieber was initially accused of misdemeanor vandalism and assault, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department told the AP that depending on the damage estimate, the charge could rise to a felony. Whitmore told the AP Tuesday that the search warrant was for a possible felony case because the damage to the neighbor’s home exceeded $400. Thompson later said the house had incurred several thousand dollars’ worth of damage.

The egg-throwing incident is just the latest example of Bieber’s recent scandalous behavior, including being repeatedly cited for speeding, openly smoking pot and hosting loud parties at his Calabasas refuge. Bieber also recently made headlines for allegedly sneaking out of a Brazilian brothel, illegally tagging a hotel wall and urinating into a mop bucket while yelling “F— Bill Clinton” and desecrating a photo of the former president.

In a recent THR cover story, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun said that while he tried to protect the pop star when he was younger, he now finds he can’t control him.

“When Justin was younger, it was, ‘Keep him out of trouble, stop him from falling down, protect him as much as you can from anything that can hurt him,’ ” Braun told THR. “When I try to do that now, he’s resentful, he pushes away and rebels. What I’ve come to learn is: Be there, give the best advice you can, but he has to be allowed to make his own decisions — and his own mistakes.”

But Braun said he does still wait up for Bieber to go to sleep.

“I’m usually up pretty much all night until I know Justin is in,” the manager told THR. “At night is when trouble can come.”

Braun added that he’s “prepared for what may come,” in terms of morning news about his client.

Thompson told the press that the warrant wasn’t designed to send a message to Bieber, but that might be one result of the search.

“We didn’t do this search warrant to send a message, that’s not what we do,” Thompson said. “But we hope maybe understanding the gravity of this will change some of the behavior.”

A rep for Bieber declined to comment on the egg-throwing investigation.
