Kanye West has had an eventful weekend. After going on another rant (this time about Beyonce, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton) and cutting his Sacramento show short, he’s now canceled his remaining Saint Pablo tour dates. In between the madness, however, the rapper found time to post on Instagram on Sunday. And we’re not talking one or two images — he posted 99 caption-less photos in the span of a few hours. Yes, 99.
‘Ye signed on to the app — which he first joined in October and posted a still image from the 1990 film Total Recall — to post blurry vintage lookbook photos of designs from Maison Margiela.
It’s unclear what prompted the rapper to go on an Instagram posting spree, but there’s no denying that he’s obsessed with the Paris-based fashion house. He’s name-dropped the label in his hit record “Ni**as In Paris” with Jay Z and expressed his excitement when John Galliano was announced as the new creative director in 2014. He’s also collaborated with the brand for his Yeezus tour. Perhaps he’s working on another collaboration with Margiela? Or, as People suggests, could it be a subtle reference to Jay Z since they seem to be having some sort of beef, and as we know, 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one?
Though we’ll never really understand why Kanye did what he did (do we ever?), he has previously said that he’d only join Instagram under one condition: “No one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram. It’s my art.” Touche.
