Another day, another Kanye West controversy.
The rapper is now being criticized for a “distasteful” lyric from his Yeezus album, in which he makes a reference to Parkinson’s.

In the song “On Sight,” West claims he’ll make a woman tremble as if she’s suffering from the disease.
“The monster about to come alive again,” West raps. “Soon as I pull up and park the Benz / We get this bitch shaking like Parkinson’s.”
American Parkinson Disease Association vice president Kathryn Whitford told The Hollywood Reporter, “We find [West’s] lyrics to be distasteful and not reflecting knowledge of the disease and how it affects people.”

The British organization Parkinson’s UK also condemned the lyric, issuing an official response. “Life with Parkinson’s is difficult enough without becoming fodder for insensitive celebrities, who should know better,” chief executive Steve Ford wrote.
“Kanye West has shown an inexcusable level of stupidity and cruelty towards people living with an incurable condition … People with Parkinson’s have to cope with intolerable social discrimination on a daily basis — often to the point where they are afraid to go out in public. This sort of thoughtless, callous comment can only serve to make things even worse for them.”
West’s sixth studio album, Yeezus, was released Tuesday after it leaked late last week.
THR has contacted West’s rep for comment.
