Lady Gaga is donating $1 million to charity in partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation.
The singer asked her 32 million Facebook fans to vote which charity — Hetrick-Martin Institute, the Door, Lawyers for Children, Safe Horizon, and SCO Family of Services — should receive the money, which will be distributed in two $500,000 installments over two years. “I’m thrilled to be working with the Robin Hood Foundation to distribute funds to help the youth of New York City,” the singer said. “NYC is my hometown, and I think investing in these kids’ future will go a long way.”

“There was never a question in my mind that I was gonna make it and that this is my destiny and that we were all gonna make it as the kids of this city, as the New York generation,” she says in the special, Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden. “My faith in my creativity and my artistry has nothing to do with making it. We kind of had already made it when we were playing for nothing downtown. … We still felt like we were superstars.”
Gaga recently raised $250,000 via Twitter for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief.
