It’s been a rough week for Kanye West, with highly publicized questionable rants during his concerts followed by an all-out tour cancelation and then hospitalization due to exhaustion and sleep deprivation. Now Lady Gaga is speaking up to support the hip-hop superstar.
Gaga on Wednesday posted three messages of love and encouragement to West, urging her fans to be “kind & loving.”
“i support & love u brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU,” she wrote to West. “You are a GREAT artist.”
During West’s mid-concert rants, he spoke out in support of President-Elect Donald Trump — a controversial stance in the largely liberal world of hip-hop and pop music. While Gaga has stood staunchly against Trump, without specifically mentioning this issue, she did note that this is “a sensitive time for many” and asked people to act with understanding. She said while she doesn’t agree with everything West does, she hopes the public shows “compassion” and love for him and each other, adding, “One love. One Race.”

It’s not funny to joke about anyone’s possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many. Let’s be kind & loving.
