APWhen Missy Elliott made a guest appearance during Katy Perry‘s Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, there were mixed reactions of nostalgia and confusion.
The stadium may have gone wild for the rapper’s return (Elliott herself hasn’t released an album since 2005’s The Cookbook), but some younger viewers were left sitting at home wondering, “Who is Missy Elliott? Is she a new rising artist on the verge of blowing up?”

And apparently Missy Elliott was well aware. The performer responded on Twitter joking, “I believe the children are our future teach them well let them lead the way! Now let’s go 2 iTunes& get sum missy joints & dance.”
