Ne-Yo to Perform at MTV Africa Music Awards

Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Ne-Yo will perform at this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards, organizers said on Wednesday.

The event, sponsored by the KwaZulu-Natal province in association with Absolut Vodka and in partnership with the city of Durban, will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre on July 18.

Ne-Yo will perform songs from his sixth studio album, Non Fiction. Discussing his first-ever performance in the South African city, he said: “I can’t wait for you to see what I have in store, Durban! I hope you’re ready, because I am!”

Said Bruce Gillmer, executive vp music, talent programming and events at Viacom’s International Media Networks unit: “We are thrilled to have Ne-Yo join us in Durban. He’s an incredible artist that will elevate the MAMA to new highs.” The awards show returned last year after a three-year hiatus.

The awards will air live across Africa on Viacom’s MTV Base and BET networks. The show will also air worldwide, including on BET International. A special MAMA edition of MTV’s World Stage franchise will air globally on MTV channels on Aug. 27.
