One Direction has sold countless units of merchandise from posters, t-shirts, Hasbro toy dolls and now, the boys have a second comic book on sale Wednesday.
In the first issue of Fame: One Direction, created by writer Michael Troy and illustrator Gustavo Rubio, the fivesome chronicled their journey as bandmates starting from The X Factor UK. Published by Bluewater Productions, a follow-up comic book titled Fame: One Direction No. 2, has been released by the same author and new illustrator Jill Lamarina. The comic book documents their fame from humble beginnings to worldwide sensations.

Of the latest edition, writer Troy says, “One Direction is one of the hottest boy bands right now, and it was a blast writing a comic book about them.”
“The first issue was a huge success that we wanted to tell more of their stories,” said publisher Darren G. Davis. “Not only are these comic books fun, but they can be used as a tool for reluctant readers.” Along with the recent version, the original Fame: One Direction will be re-released with a new homage cover to the classic comic book Giant Sized X-men No. 1. The issue will be digitally exclusive on ITunes as well as printed.

The Fame series also has versions of comic books following the stories of Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber.
The members of One Direction are no strangers to the comic book medium. In early 2012, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson were transformed into superheroes in an animation titled The Adventurous Adventures of One Direction. In February 2013, One Direction appeared in a monthly spinoff magazine, BeanoMAX, in its Red Nose Day special issue. The boy band joined a slew of other British stars in support of Comic Relief, a charity which aims to bring change to poor and disadvantaged people in Ethiopia suffering from famine. In the comic, One Direction play themselves, helping cartoon characters Dennis the Menace and Minnie the Minx put on a charity show. Other special characters include Jessie J, Olly Murs and former Doctor Who star David Tennant.
