The newlywed Brit announced on Monday that he will release a new album in February. The as-yet-untitled disc will include two new original tracks and several covers, featuring the American songs that inspired the former Beatle during his songwriting process.

“When I kind of got into songwriting,” McCartney said, “I realized how well structured these songs were, and I think I took a lot of my lessons from them. I always thought artists like Fred Astaire were very cool. Writers like Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, all of those guys — I just thought the songs were magical.”
The album was recorded with jazz singer Diana Krall and producer Tommy LiPuma at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, New York and London throughout the past year. Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder are also featured on the project, which is scheduled for a Feb. 7 release.
