The long and winding road is finally bringing Paul McCartney back to Australia and New Zealand.
The Beatles and Wings legend will bring his long-running One on One Tour to these parts later in the year for a whirlwind five-date visit.
Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring Company will produce the tour, McCartney’s first in Australia and New Zealand since 1993’s The New World Tour, almost a quarter century ago.
McCartney can be sure to enjoy a warm welcome. Australians have a long memory, and few have forgotten how the Beatles honored a commitment and made the long haul Down Under at the very peak of their fame, back in 1964. On that jaunt, the Beatles played 5,000 capacity rooms. On his December trip, McCartney will fill out stadiums and arenas in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland.

In a first for McCartney and FTC, the trek was unveiled in a Facebook Live event Wednesday night (June 21) with musical comedy master Tim Minchin interviewing the legendary singer and bass player about his live plans.
McCartney will be accompanied by his bandmate Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass and guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) on the trans-Tasman run, which starts Dec. 2 at nib Stadium in Perth and wraps up Dec. 16 at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland.
“We’ve been waiting to get back to Australia and New Zealand for years, and now it’s finally happening. It is very exciting,” comments McCartney in a statement. “I’m really looking forward to the concerts, as we’ve always had such a brilliant time whenever we’ve been before, so we know we are in for a treat. Can’t wait to see you and all rock out together.”
The general ticket sale starts July 4, and presales kick off June 29. For more information visit frontiertouring.com/paulmccartney.
