Pearl Jam is gearing up for a big comeback.
The band, which is celebrating its anniversary this year, recently performed at the two-day PJ20 music festival, are starring in the Cameron Crowe documentary Pearl Jam Twenty, which hit theaters Tuesday, and released a book recounting their career.

But now, the group is also looking to get back to what they do best: making music. They are in the midst of recording their 10th studio album, following on the heels of offering new song “Ole” as a free download on their website.
According to Rolling Stone, it’s one of several new songs they recorded in the spring.

“We’re at least at the halfway point,” bassist Jeff Ament said. “The first handful of songs we had are a great, great start. It’s been really important for us that in the middle of all this, we got together and recorded a bunch of songs. It sort of gave us a breath to go, ‘Okay, we can go back and get ready for the show and book and movie and all that stuff.'”
The group recorded the songs with longtime producer Brendan O’Brien at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles and hope to be finished early next year.

“They knocked out a bunch of songs in just a couple weeks with Brendan, and everybody was blown away,” manager Kelly Curtis told Rolling Stone. “It’s hard for them to sit on that s—. They’re raring to go forward.”
