Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts says she didn’t think her infamous interview with Chris Brown “had gone well.”
“But by no means did I feel that it didn’t go so well for him to react as he did,” she said Wednesday on The Gayle King Show on OWN, notes The Los Angeles Times.
Brown, who appeared on the ABC morning show Tuesday to promote his new album F.A.M.E., grew increasingly agitated when Roberts asked about his past assault on his ex, singer Rihanna. After taping his segment, he stormed into his dressing room and trashed it, even breaking a window.
“I wasn’t trying to go back down memory lane and rehash every detail….” Roberts explained.
Nevertheless, she wants him back on the show.
“I wish him the absolute best,” she said on GMA Wednesday morning. “We extended the invitation to him [to come back], and sure hope he takes us up on it because I’d sure love to have another chat with him.”
She told viewers that Brown was informed before the sit-down what they would talk about.
“And even right before the interview I let him know,” she explained. “I was shocked like everyone else, because we’ve had a wonderful relationship. I’ve been to his home, he’s very gracious, and we’ve had easy conversation.”
She said she “thought he was joking” when he was sulking during their interview, and repeated, “We’ve extended an invitation. We’d love to have him back. He’s seriously considering that.”
Despite his outburst, Brown is still slated to perform on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars next week. Fans are objecting, TMZ reports.
