Eighteen months after being named senior vp sales at Capitol Music Group, Ron Spaulding has exited the label’s iconic Hollywood tower.
A statement released Aug. 18 appointed Vince Szydlowski senior vp label sales for Capitol Music Group, reporting to executive vp Greg Thompson.
Szydlowski arrives from Universal Music Group Distribution, where he was vp national sales for seven years. There, he handled such accounts and partners as Apple, Google, Amazon, YouTube, Rhapsody, Microsoft and Starbucks.
Spaulding, the former president of Fontana, Universal Music Group Distribution’s independent distribution arm, was brought in to oversee CMG’s field marketing staff in the execution of strategic retail campaigns, among other sales duties.
He previously had served as executive vp and general manager of Asylum and EastWest Records, and senior vp sales at WEA, Warner Music Group’s distribution arm. Spaulding joined Fontana, which was purchased by INgrooves in 2012, as executive vp and general manager in 2007.
