Singer Sean Kingston is “awake” and “alert” in the Miami hospital where he’s been since crashing his jet ski into a bridge on May 29. Kingston has a breathing tube in his mouth and sources tell TMZ that he’s communicating through nods and sign language.
Kingston broke his jaw, fractured a wrist and had water in his lungs following the accident, which also sent passenger Cassanda Sanchez to the hospital. Sanchez spent a short time in medical care before being released while Kingston has been transferred from the trauma ward to the intensive care unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He’s still in critical but stable condition.
The 21-year-old Kingston, whose real name Kisean Anderson, broke into the music scene in 2007 with his “Beautiful Girls” single and self-titled debut album. He’s since released his sophomore effort, Tomorrow, and was working on a third album when the crash happened.
Soulja Boy, Justin Bieber and LL Cool J were among the artists to tweet support for the artist following the accident. Soulja Boy wrote, “Praying for my brother @seankingston. I hope he makes a full recovery … smh it’s always something :(.” LL Cool J offered, “I hope and pray that Sean Kingston recovers quickly…. #staystrong.”
Bieber, who has collaborated with the Jamaican singer on “Eenie Meenie” and more recently on “Won’t Stop,” tweeted “Sean we praying for u baby.”
Kingston was responsive and spoke during his rescue, Coast Guard member Jonathan Rivera told TMZ, but the singer was also vomiting blood during the incident.
