John Sciulli/Getty ImagesSinead O’Connor, whose dramatic personal life is again making headlines, is redirecting focus on her career with a series of intimate concerts in Los Angeles and New York City next month.
The Irish singer and her five-piece band will perform four shows: two at L.A.’s Hollywood Cemetery Feb. 20-21, and then on to the Big Apple for another pair of dates at the Highline Ballroom Feb. 23 and 24.
The shows, announced Monday, are in support of O’Connor’s ninth studio album — How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? — slated for release Feb. 21. The disc, produced by John Reynolds, includes the newly released singles, “4th and Vine,” and “Take Off Your Shoes.”

O’Connor’s vocal stylings, meanwhile, have been recognized on the 2012 awards circuit: the track “Lay Your Head Down,” from the movie Albert Nobbs, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best original song. It was written by Glenn Close, who stars in the Ireland-based period film, and features O’Connor singing.
O’Connor, 45, is also getting attention for her wild public antics. Last month, she married therapist Barry Herridge in a kitschy whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony only to split up with him 16 days later. But lo and behold, last week they reunited after the singer had an apparent change of heart.
