Taylor Swift fans got a bit of exciting news on Monday when the country star officially announced her new album during a live web chat.
Swift fielded questions from fans in the studio as well as those using Google+ Hangout, while more than 70,000 fans watched along on the YouTube stream. Wearing a red dress, red earrings and bright red lips, Swift revealed the title of her forthcoming album: Red

“There’s nothing beige about this record,” Swift said about the release, which is scheduled for Oct. 22.
After announcing that Red would feature 16 tracks (“I have a really, really nice record label who let me do that”), and would also include a duet with British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, Swift also debuted a brand new single.
In true Swift form, the song was an uptempo, acoustic guitar-heavy breakup ballad, cleverly titled “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Swift even went so far as to dedicate the tune to her “lovely ex-boyfriend,” with whom she apparently had an on-again-off-again romance.
As the new song played, Swift danced in her chair while the in-house audience sang along.
As for the mystery boy’s identity — that will undoubtedly become the subject of intense speculation in the coming days.
Swift has long been known for taking aim at ex-flames through her music. Asked about the topic by a fan, Swift replied, “I’m trying not to be too cryptic with it, but I’m trying also not to give it away.”
Referencing her last album, with songs titled “Dear John” (reportedly targeting John Mayer) and “Back to December” (rumored to be about Taylor Lautner), Swift acknowledged that, “people pretty much figured everything out.”
Swift also answered questions about a future in film, stating that she wouldn’t want to do anything to take away from her music career. However, “I would love to do a movie that I was so obsessed with, that I couldn’t think of anything other than shooting that movie. And if that happens, you will see pictures of me shooting that movie,” she conceded.
For now, fans can download “Never Ever” on iTunes.
Swift also made headlines this this week for reportedly purchasing a $4.9 million home in Hyannis Port, Mass., right across the street from the property of rumored boyfriend Conor Kennedy’s grandmother, Ethel. The house is said to be a seven-bedroom, five-bathroom home overlooking Nantucket Sound.
“It’s in a beautiful location and right across the street from Conor and the Kennedys,” the realtor confirmed to People. “It’s a beautiful home. She got a nice home, paid fair price. The house was on the market for two to four years.”
