Taylor Swift has addressed criticism from British fans that her new single, “Out of the Woods,” isn’t available on Apple’s iTunes Store in the U.K. despite being sold in other countries.
In a post on Tumblr, the singer explained that the decision was part of the marketing strategy by her label. “To all my wonderful U.K. fans, I realize that you are not yet able to get ‘Out of The Woods’ due to a new strategy my record label is working on in the U.K.”
She added: “I’ve never been one to hold my music back from any of you, so I will be watching closely to see if this is ultimately a better experience for you, the fans.”

Swift also explained that the strategy was based on one used for Ed Sheeran‘s “One,” which was available early to fans who pre-ordered his whole album. “My good friend Ed Sheeran utilized the same strategy with ‘One’ in the U.K. and he seemed very happy with the feedback from his fans,” Swift wrote. “But, ultimately, it’s down to you. Let me know.”
The Guardian reported that some British Swift fans have on social media criticized the fact that the new single wasn’t available in the U.K. yet. The star is releasing her new album 1989 at the end of the month.
