Thirty Seconds to Mars has spent a long time building and nurturing its fan base, and now they’re sending it to summer camp.
The rock band, fronted by Jared Leto, is hosting a three-day and two-night weekend Aug. 22-24 in Malibu, Calif. called Camp Mars that will lead attendees through a series of activities in a semi-rustic setting.
In a note on the website, the band states, “This is a rustic nature experience; expect to share your living space and live in a wonderfully communal way. The facilities are clean and safe, but they [are] not four-star hotel suites with dinner mints on your pillows. Make sure you understand exactly what you are getting.”
Hiking, yoga, meditation and arts and crafts are all on the docket, as well as band member-led experiences, including cooking with guitarist Tomo Milicevic and coffee with drummer Shannon Leto. There will also be two Thirty Seconds to Mars performances and some DJ sets.
“We have always looked to do things for our audience that are fun and unique,” Leto told Rolling Stone about the Camp Mars weekend. “What better way to celebrate the summer than in beautiful Southern California with the Mars family in full.”
The tickets are limited to 550 overnight packages with limited day passes, ranging from $799-$1,999 at price tiers such as “Tree Huggin‘,” “Coyote” and “Red Hawk.” Tickets go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. PST.
