The legendary voice of Van Morrison is returning to Blue Note Records. The artist, whose classic albums include Astral Weeks, Moondance and Tupelo Honey, will release Born to Sing: No Plan B on Oct. 2, the label announced Tuesday.
Blue Note president Don Was calls Morrison “one of the greatest singer/songwriter/musicians of all time.”

In his statement announcing the move, Morrison praises the label, which released his Grammy-nominated What’s Wrong With This Picture? in 2003.
“With most record companies being so corporate I am happy to be working with Don Was and the team at Blue Note,” he says. “To have such a creative music person as the head of my recording label assures me that all the effort taken to write and record this new album will be rewarded with a music-based focus and marketing approach.”
Since the early 1990s when he ended his association with Mercury, Morrison has recorded for Polydor, Virgin and Lost Highway. His latest release, the 2009 concert album Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl, was released on his own Listen to the Lion imprint.
Born to Sing: No Plan B was produced by Morrison and recorded in his native Belfast, Northern Ireland.
